Do Students Have a Say?

At Montgomery County High School, many things are changing under the new leadership of a principal. Do the students have a say-so in what happens under this leadership or are we in an oligarchy? Some of the things that have changed include the following; a new schedule, the proposal of a dress code (shudder), and the freshman experience. Students should have a say in the things that are changed here.

A New Schedule

The new schedule is going to be harder for the student body. Going from four or five classes a day to seven classes a day will give us more homework and less opportunities for personal time. We will be over booked and over stressed in all our other activities.

Proposal of a Dress Code

A new dress code would effect this school dramatically. With a new dress code, the drop out rate will increase, self expression will decrease, and more time will be spent on worrying about what students are wearing and less on teaching.

Freshman Experience

With the Freshman Experience and the new schedual a lot will change. The freshman will have an extra block and do what??? homework??? (doubt it!).

Under the new leadership of this school much has changed. Do you think the students have had much of a say of what has gone on?
